Tooele County Events: What’s Happening in August 2026

Summer is still going strong in Tooele County! From Heritage Days and Wizard Fest to movies, markets, triathlons, fireworks, and one of Stansbury Park’s biggest celebrations of the year, there are plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy the community this August.

🎡 Tooele County Heritage Days — August 1

📍 The Peak Sports and Entertainment Complex - Tooele County Parks and Rec, Grantsville

Heritage Days wraps up on Saturday, August 1 after beginning July 30. The county celebration features live entertainment, 4-H exhibits, livestock events, food, and major attractions including the demolition derby and rodeo.

It’s one of the biggest community celebrations of the summer and a great way to kick off August.

🪄 Downtown Wizard Week — August 1

Downtown Tooele is getting a magical makeover! Downtown Wizard Week culminates with Wizard Fest on August 1, featuring a wizard-themed marketplace, vendors, food, activities, performances, and a scavenger hunt.

It’s an especially fun option for families and Harry Potter and fantasy fans.

🎬 Wizard Fest Movie: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them — August 1

📍 Ritz Theater for the Arts, Tooele

Keep the Wizard Fest fun going with a showing of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them at the historic Ritz Theater. Tickets are listed at $2, with free entry available for those who complete the Wizard Fest scavenger hunt.

That makes Wizard Fest + the movie an easy full afternoon in Downtown Tooele.

🐄 Junior Livestock Sale — August 1

📍 The Peak Sports & Entertainment Complex, Grantsville
🕘 9:00 AM

Come support local 4-H and livestock participants at the Heritage Days Livestock Sale. USU Extension's July schedule lists the sale for 9 a.m. on August 1 at The Peak.

It’s also a great opportunity for families to experience the agricultural side of Tooele County.

🛍️ Stansbury Days Youth Entrepreneurs Market — August 13

📍 Stansbury Park

Stansbury Days kicks off August 13 with local food trucks and the Youth Entrepreneurs Market, where young entrepreneurs can showcase and sell what they’ve created.

The entire Stansbury Days celebration is free and open to the public.

🏊 Stansbury Days Kids Triathlon — August 14

📍 Stansbury Park

Young athletes can swim, bike, and run during the Kids Triathlon at Stansbury Lake as part of the Stansbury Days festivities.

Even if your family isn't competing, it’s a fun community event to come out and support.

🎥 Stansbury Days Movie Night — August 14

🌙 Starts at dusk

Bring the family out for an outdoor movie on the golf course Friday night. Food trucks are also scheduled as part of Friday's Stansbury Days activities, so you can make an evening of it.

Bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy a summer movie outside.

Saturday is the big day for Stansbury Days, including the annual community parade. The 2026 festival runs August 13–15, with the parade scheduled for Saturday, August 15.

🚗 Stansbury Days Car Show & Marketplace — August 15

📍 Stansbury Park

Check out the car show and community marketplace during Saturday's Stansbury Days celebration. The day's schedule also includes food trucks, art and historical displays, bounce houses, laser tag, chainsaw carving, and other activities.

This is probably one of the best all-day family options in Tooele County during August.

🚤 Stansbury Days Cardboard Boat Race — August 15

One of the more unique Stansbury Days traditions returns with the Cardboard Boat Race. Participants put their creations to the test on Stansbury Lake while spectators get to see which boats survive—and which ones don't.

🏊 Stansbury Days Adult Triathlon — August 15

Adults get their turn on Saturday with a swim-bike-run triathlon at Stansbury Lake. It’s part of a packed final day of Stansbury Days activities.

Finish off Stansbury Days with a fireworks show over Stansbury Park on Saturday night. The official 2026 event page lists fireworks at dusk as the finale to the three-day celebration.

☀️ Things to Do During the Rest of August

Even after the big summer festivals wrap up, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the last few weeks of August around Tooele County.

Catch a movie at the drive-in. Head to Erda Drive In for a classic summer night under the stars. Movie schedules change throughout the season, so check the current lineup before heading out.

Have an art day in Downtown Tooele. Visit Gallery on 28 to browse work from local artists, then explore some of the shops and restaurants along Main Street.

Go swimming before summer ends. Pratt Aquatic Center is another family-friendly option when you want to escape the August heat.

Spend a day on the water. Pack up the paddleboards, kayaks or fishing gear and head to Grantsville Reservoir or Stansbury Lake for one more summer lake day.
